why R Fish doin dis2007-11-24 23:43:45

jus got some african chiclids got dem all set to temp now for some reason two of da four keep swimmin from the top to da bottom of da tank contunously been about an hour I have had otha kinds of fish never seen dis behavior should I be worried what should I do

Check the pH of your water and then ask the fish store what pH the water that they were living in is. If there is a big difference, more than .5, then that is the problem.

The shock caused by extreme differences in pH will harm or sometimes kill fish. It sounds like they are trying to find a way to get out of the water they are in.

Is it a new setup? If not, how long since the last partial (30%) water change? Should be no more than 2 weeks between changes. It sounds like they have a problem with the water quality. Check the ammonia, nitrite and nitrate levels. If they are high, do a 30% water change immediately and then do a 20% change every day for the next 3-4 days or until the levels are down to 0.

if you keeping it in a fish bowl it most likly that they dont have enough oxygen in the fish bowl. if its in a tank it could mean that they are hungrey or the water is dirty. otherwise its normal.

i have a three different tanks a 10,35,125! do you have a air pump? if you don't get one or they will die

Make sure your tank is big enough and has the proper filtration and aeration. Other than that they should be fine, and it is probably normal behavior.
