because they are disgusting animals that are associated with dirty conditions, so the brain recognizes them as ugly due to that.
Frogs and lizards probably find roaches very attractive (as a food source).
From a biological standpoint, despite their repulsive appearance, the roach is one of the best designed creatures as far as survival is concerned. Their nature, instincts, and body structure has allowed them to exist for over 300 million years, tens of millions of years before the first dinosaurs.
Roaches survived what ever wiped out the dinosaurs, and they will probably continue to exist on this planet long after humans are extinct.
In an outdoors environment, their color aids them well in being undetected, their long antennae help them easily find food, and six long legs and quick reflexes help them evade predators, and they produce enormous quantities of offspring.
They are highly adaptable to live in almost any environment and eat almost anything. Their flat bodies can fit into nearly any crevice. They can develop immunities to many pesticides and are resistant to radiation and resistant to any diseases they may carry.
I guess being ugly is the price they had to pay for all those talents.
