You may be changing too much water, or changing it too often. Stick with no more then 25% once a week. You can try reducing the amount of light and replacing your bulb (old bulbs produce too much lower spectrum light. You can also switch to bottled spring water in case your own water has phosphates which algae thrives on. Try putting in a hardy plant to out-compete the algae for nutrients. Don't feed your tank for a few days, the fish will digest some of the floating algae.

If it's in a very light area or in the sun this could promote growth of that green stuff. I put some snails in mine and they worked a treat.
it's all about the light.. either theres too much light or not enough of it
try the filter and if it is tropical fish tank get a placo they eat the c**p
is it placed near direct sunlight?
um..there might be a lot of light in the room or u feed it/them too much!that's what usually happens to me!!=)
it is expose too much light. snails cant help in eating the algea in the water only those that grow on the tanks.try to place it away from sunlight.
if it is too near a window the algae will keep coming back
Mine did that too. Go to the pet store and get an algie eater fish. He will clean it up in no time. He did mine!
Two things come to mind.
