Hey, I used to keep fish and they turned silver. It's no problem and if it's healthy, it'll survive. I think they sometimes change to reflect their environment.

put it in the sunlight alittle bit everyday or at least use a lighting bulb for it. Gold fish lose their color if you leave it in the dark or dim lighting for a long period of time

Well . . . I don't know what kind of conditions you keep it in, but I have heard that keeping a goldfish in the dark will cause it to lose all coloration.

Some stores sell "goldfish" that are not actually real goldfish. They are dyed to look like goldfish. Just like jelly bean parrot fish. They are dyed all kinds of colors. As the fish get older and larger they lose their colors and become white or silver.
