would my fish die if
That air chamber, because they don't have to move around all the time, makes it so they can use their brain to ponder less mudane things. Don't underestimate that fish or undervalue its life.
why do you want a fish in your locker? would you like to live in a locker?
no
living things need light and
how is it gonna get food on the weekends
first see how ur gonna get it in there, if it fits, and put it somewhre where its not gonna get move around every time you go put ur books in it? and watch the noise level cuz even bettas get stressed real easy, and one last thing the school probably turn off the heating system on weekends, the school can get frezzing cold, especialy during the winter, so i really dought u can do this but good luck
Betta splendens, like other tropical fish, come from a warm climate.
They normally would see sunlight every day, & even though Bettas don't need a high dissolved oxygen in the water, because of thier air-breathing capability, they would normally have it with the movement of the breeze across the water's surface, where they spend most of their time.
A school locker is about as far away from all of this as you can get.
Do not inflict this kind of imprisonment on a Betta or anything else live - lockers are for stashing non-living materials.
Look into some alternatives.
