How Much do I really know about horses
Ive been taking lessons for three years and I did quiet a bit with horses in that time.
I did a lot of the pat parelli program for those of you who know what that is and learned to ride hunter/jumper.
I love horses a lot but some times I feel I still don't knonw them as well as I'd like.
I still get scared some times when horses do somthing unexpected but For the most part I can keep a cool head.
Last year a horse I was riding was on some feed that made her crazy.
I did not know at the time so we went trail riding she reared I did not get scared and I thought I had things under control when she did it again. she feel backwords nearly crushing me.
ever since then before I get on a hose I feel a little jittery but I'm fine once I am up.. I started questioning everything I know about horses.
do I really know much at all to get scared like that?
I should know what to do but I feel like I don't
Answers:I've spent 33 years around them 15 of those years doing it for a living. I have yet to meet someone who knows it all, I don't think it's possible...On the other hand I've known plenty who laid claim to the title. The fact that you've been taking prof. training & getting back on will do wonders for your confidence. Healthy respect is always good, more confidence will come with time. It's been my personal experience that a close call now & then keeps you on your toes & from being complacent around them. You can't take them for granted, they're all different and are living creatures with personalities and some even come with baggage ! lol
name it justice!!!
I am becoming a certified Parelli Professional and let me tell you want to be able to read a horse and know exactly what your horse is thinking and want to know how to respond to everything your horse gives out to you, Parelli is the way to go. I am able to read my horses really well, although never done learning, and I can read other peoples horses. Ones that are giving them problems I can tell what the horse is trying to tell them, they just don't know how to listen. If you like Parelli like I do the way to grow leaps and bounds is to get the "Liberty and Horse Behavior" kit. It is actually one of thier 2 week courses that they have made available as a training kit. If you buy from Parelli it is a little more expensive, but you can find them on e-bay for way cheaper at times.
