if you dont want to pick it off soak a cotton ball in alchol and put it on tick it will fall off and die, check the label on the next fly spray you buy some kill ticks 2

try some petroleum jelly when he needs air he'll let go then you grab him and smash him
I am pretty sure that you can just do it normally- like you would take one off a dog or other animal. I would just keep checking the sopt so to make sure that the tick didnt have lime disease.
Then take them off. You can soak them in oil and they suffocate, and pull their head out, or you can sprinkle the horse with Sevin, both work.
Its painful. Tweezers. Or squeeze it off. Good luck with that. My pig gets them alot
I completey cover them in a huge gob of vaseline. They also make a "tick-nipper" which is a plastic nipper that pulls them out.
Pull it out. Be sure you get it all out. Get underneath it and pull. Don't keep it there. But if it gets big enough...it will fall off. Use tick spray before and after you ride. Check under the tail. They hide there often.
if you are not afraid of using chemicals that are designed for ticks, flies gnats and such, the BEST product is sold at the feed store in like a 12 oz. bottle , sometimes with a squeeze measurer on top called: PERMECTIN, PERMECTRIN, are brand names for PERMETHRIN. it is in the cow section to be mixed with diesel for cow rubs- but for the horses i mix 2 oz in a gallon of water in a garden pump sprayer and spray the horses down after a ride when they are damp- get their groin area and under tail and girth area well. it kills existing ticks which will then curry off and repels new ones. it is a synthetic formulation of a chemical found in south american chrysanthemums, so i am not that wary of it. i apply it with a sponge without gloves and have never had a problem . it is Great, i am in humid midwest and this is a BAD tick year and this does the trick. Look at the feed store and read the label. GL i also use this as flea dip for my dogs.
drown the tick in oil (vegetable, corn, mineral) this takes away the tick's ability to breath and the tick will back out on it own! Just make sure what ever you use it has to completely surround the tick, so it cant get any air. It WILL come out to breath, then grab it and burn it.
you just pull it off like you would on any other animal you just have to make sure you get the head so the best thing to do is take some of the skin of with it it really isnt that painful! and then you burn the tick just light it on fire it will make a popping noise when it dies.
