Re previous ownership question - how do you get the horse back without wielding a cricket bat or going to great expense through the courts ? Marie D I would like to speak to you for advice !!

You can go to small claims in England (I'm English). For claims under 5 grand (keyboard doesn't have a pound sign), you would file the papers with the local court and there's a 120 quid court fee and 50 quid admin fee. Court costs then go up in a sliding scale depending on how much you are claiming. If they rule in your favor, they can either order them to return the horse and pay your court costs or order them to pay you for the horse and then again reimburse your costs. You don't need a solicitor and can get all the paperwork from the local county court. The details are here

My friend bought a horse from a dealer in Newcastle and the horse was completely misrepresented as to what it had done etc and she went to small claims, got to keep the horse and they ordered the dealer to pay her costs and refund half of the purchase price.

Did they not pay you for the horse?Try a repo guy that is what a friend did. SHe hired a guy to go reposes the horse when he got there he explained and the buyer forked up the money he owed so the horse stay and the seller got the money. Nothing went through the courts.
