me and my wife board a horse at this place were it seems like im the only guy that goes out and rides my horse out of like 50 boarders (not that im complaining but it seems weird that none of these wemons husbands dont want to get involved i find being around horses really relaxing am i the only guy out there other than the trainers on tv)

It's pretty much the same with my stable, there are only three men that I know of that are out there with the horses alot, all of them are middle aged and the husbands of women who are much more serious about riding than they are. Most of us are teenage girls and then a huge age gap to the middle aged women. It's odd. Don't guys like horses?

Well i'm a girl and love horses but i worked at a place called woodward in penny and there were about 3 male staff so some guys like horses and to think of it race horses guys ride them some dressage horses some guys ride them

Boarding stable seem to be the domain of teenage girls and middle aged women and it's true also back home in England. They want a pet, a hobby or a child substitute. Men that are into horses usually make a career of it and most stud farms and racing yards etc have workforces comprised of men. One racing yard I worked at had 36 employees and there was only me and another girl. Nearly all jockeys and polo players are men and there is a reason for the term "stallion man" and "second man".

How much of the difference is based on society's expectations? I have a 6 year old son who I'm teaching to ride, but now I notice it's definitely a girl oriented thing and wonder if that turns some boys (or their parents) off - that horses are for girls only. Will my son eventually get teased for riding and be seen as not manly enough? See many boys modeling in the tack catalogs? In horse books for kids? Check out young rider clothing or pony gear lately? It's overrun with pink and purple and little hearts. I didn't see it but didn't they change the main character in the newest My Friend Flicka movie to a girl?
