How many horses can stay comfortably on 250 acres of pasture

i just inherhited 650 acres 250 is pasture and i have bought 27 horses. i really know nothing about horses but i have someone teaching me.

The "rule of thumb" I've always been told, in order to control overgrazing, is 2 acres per horse. When people move out to the country, some communities have restrictions of the number of horses on their property in order to control the grazing and health issues that can come up. So, I would say that minimum of 2 acres per horse. And, you have no worrys with the statistics you offered. Make sure that the grounds are clear of hazards such as bob wire, metal fragments, nails, board, holes and such because it seems that horses are magnets to dangerous things. And when they are caught in a mess, they panic and harm themselves more. So, make sure that the acreage you keep them on is very clean and clear for them, with plenty of shade, water, and some scattered feed troughs for grain and hay. Additionally, it is a good practice to have a few donkeys thrown in. Donkeys are great protectors of horses - their natural enemy is the coyote, which likes to prey on horses. Their instinct is to fight them. Be sure to take "inventory" for the horses each evening or morning to make sure that some have not either been lost, stolen, or are injured and need help. They are very helpless animals, but in a panic are highly dangerous, because they will try to flee, even if you are helping them. Make sure their hooves are tended to often, as their feet speak loudly of their health, and if not maintained & cleaned & trimmed fairly often can lead to suffering and possible death.
