I would like to register my horse for AQHA, and I can't find the prices for registering him He is 13, a 15.2HH horse, and is a quarter horse gelding. How much will it cost to register him?

Are you a member of AQHA?? Since your horse is over 48 months, (I'm pretty sure AQHA stipulates at 48) it is going to cost you $1,000 dollars if you are a member of AQHA. If you are not a member the cost is probably around thirty to forty dollars in addition to the thousand. At 13, and as a gelding, there is not any point in registering him though unless you plan to show him in AQHA shows. Either way, its never any fun getting a horse registered at an older age. If you have a pedigree you are in decent shape, but you'll still need to have his parentage verified using a DNA kit.

AQHA charges $35.00 for each kit.

First you need to have the breeders certificate, both parents have to be registered, AQHA or AQHA/TB cross and then, if you are not the only owner of this horse you will need to trace its previous owners. Each transfer would cost $15.00, You would be looking at $1,000 to regisiter plus your $35.00 member fee, you would also need to have parentage verification done as well

If this horse was registered and the papers were lost, you will need to get a duplicate certificate signed and notarized by the last recorded owner and track any additional owners to obtain the transfers from person to person. (I've been here and it took 2 years to get the horses papers and one heck of a lot of leg work on my part)
