I really need some advise

okay so i ride this cute paint horse. She wears eggbar pads because she is so klutzy :] Anyway, last Friday she got really, really lame. To the point where we had to bute her, and keep her away from other horses. She got semi-better so we put her with the other horses in the barn again. Today i trotted her before i tacked up and shes still very lame. We think it may be our farrier, who has problems with people at our barn before. I have a show Sunday and i've been training forever! She's getting new shoes between Thursday and Friday. I don't know if i should just scratch my classes now or wait until last minute. Do you think she'll be sound enough to ride in the show? Also how can i prevent this from happening in the future? any help would be fantastic!

Anytime a farrier or a vet, (or anyone else you pay money to for a service) doesn't answer your questions and takes the time to show you (the horse owner and/or PAYING customer) what it is that they are doing and why..it is time to get a new farrier or vet or whatever.

The bubble underneath the pad is to help make the frog do what it is supposed to do which is "pump" blood in and out of the hoof. With a pad on the hoof and a shoe then the hoof can't flex properly to work the foot like it was designed to do. The pad with the shoe can be used for a number of ailments. Navicular is one of those ailments. But there are also other ways to deal with the Navicular horse that are more effective than the way your farrier is.
