I live in Yakima, WA. Please Help!
Answers:The only way you would be able to ride for free is if you parent's friends or somebody has a horse. Other then that, every place you go will have you pay some kind of fee.
THe working thing has been suggested is a good option, but If you have NO experince around horses they probably won't hire you to do the job. Look in the papers and such.
Maybe you can look into the papers and see who has barns that give lessons etc... and see if you can work for lessons. That is what I did around where I lived. I saw an advert asking for someone to help care for the horses in exchange for free riding lessons. Or possibly make friends with people who have horses. That's pretty much the only way you can ride without paying... but there are lot of trail rides that I am sure you can find that don't cost a lot to go on.
see if you can be on a working program, but im pretty sure you need horse experience, unless you do it with like babysiting your instructors kids or somethign.
I'm a horse lover too! If you really want to ride maybe you could get a job helping at a local barn or stable in exchange for riding. I cleaned stalls for 3 years so I could ride a horse.Ask them questions if you're not sure about anything such as mounting, saddling, etc. Also read lots of books about riding.
Working for lessons is the best option unless you know of some friends that own horses that would be willing to teach you. However that does have a liability issue for them if you get injured. Good luck and hit the papers and the phone book looking for stables.
Well where I am, if you look or ask around, some places are willing to make a deal with you that if you clean out stalls or do something, they will let you ride for free. Or you can set up a lemonade stand to raise money. lol
try finding a farm where they have horses and then ask them if you can please ride a horse
Working for rides is definitely an option, but if you have no prior experience around horses I think they would be very wary of taking you on. Also a lot of riding schools won't allow people to help out anymore because they are afraid of getting sued if someone gets kicked or injured in some other way.
