If you went away for a week
I am wondering if i go away this summer (4 hrs away from my horses) should i write up a paper giving the permission to a certin person (my vet or trainer) to put my horse down or treat her in the event of an emergency and i cannot be reached?
Answers:Yes as long as it is someone you trust. I would suggest you pick a relative or close friend who would have a good idea of how you would want them to act in the first place.
I think that'd be a good idea.
no! I think you should be there for your horses death! just be reachable most of the time and i think you will be fine and stop worrying.
yes absoloutly just in case . You never know what could pop up in the way of an emergency . good luck and have a great trip.
it depends on how much u love that horse(s)
Nice job!
I have run into that so many times when friends have left etc and horses need to be put down. The one that stuck in my mind was an old mare that prolapsed. A mutual friend came over and finished the deed and ended her immense suffering. But we attempted to contact the owners, were unable to and I made the decision.
It never hurts to plan ahead and have preparations made.
To the one poster that wrote stay close by for an animals death, you don't get out much. Had that been my mare, I wouldn't of wanted to prolong her suffering.
Yes. It is always good to plan for the worst, just in case.
