JUST BREATHE! It really works, trust me! What also really helps is to visualize the course. Just imagine the two of you going over the course, confidently, and with ease. It will help you keep your nerves down AND help you memorize the course!

Also, don't forget that almost EVERYONE always has a case of nerves and butterflies before they enter the show ring!

Relax trust in your horse. if you don't believe in yourself. why should your horse. you could read UNDERSTANDING YOUR HORSE.

Really good advice from Leah C there, just go and enjoy it. Positive thought is great, and half the battle, so yes picture yourself doing well.

At the same time remember that this is the first of many shows, so even if it doesn't go well, there's always next time. You already know your horse is best right? so just give him a chance to prove it.

The really nice thing about working with horses though, is that he will never hold it against you if you do jump the wrong course (which isn't going to happen) As long as you make sure he has a good day out, he will enjoy it.
