Im going to start saving for a new saddle, any recommendations for a good, relatively cheap saddle
Right now I have a synthetic all purpose, and it's not a bad saddle, in fact it's served me quite nicely, but now that I can afford to buy myself one sometime soon I want a better one made specifically for jumping.
It'll be a few months before I can get it, maybe longer depending on the price, but I'd like to know what to look at and consider for now.
Answers:Good quality used will probably be your best bet. Plus, it will already be broken in! I love not having to break in a new saddle. And if you will be primarily jumping or want to compete, get a close contact...the difference is huge b/w a CC and an AP.
I do like my Courbette Alpina saddles...very comfy(even new) and you can get them new around $900...sometimes cheaper on e-bay. I got one on closeout from PetSmart for $375! Also, some people like the Dover Saddlery brand saddles...it depends on what you like.
Given the choice, get a used Stubben which would still be in your price range. I truely think they are the best saddles.
There are three websites that you should look on for saddles:
www.ebay.com
www.usedsaddles.com
http://www.middleburgtack.com/
If you want a nice one for that price, you will have to look at used ones. Stubbens are nice, so are crosbys. I would recommend a used stubben.
You should be able to buy a good used saddle for your price range.
