it doesnt stand for anything. It is what you put on the horse when they ride, like bits, saddles, bridles, etc.

the only term for tack i kno is things you use while riding (saddle, bridle, saddle pad etc.) and tacking up is when you put on the tack. you probly already knew this lol but its the only defenition for tack that i know. good luck! -kaylie

tack is a general term not noly used in stables but in the horse world. it refers to any equipment used to ride a horse. not grooming or such but somtimes things used to correct abd confromation. horse shoes are probably the only thing used when riding a horse not reffered to as 'tack' is the horse shoes. saddles, bridles, halters, saddle pads, saddle bags, breast collars, cruppers, bits, nosebands, brow bands, grackles, all of that is in general considered 'tack'. and it's not directly used for english or western or any other discpline. just in general with the lot.
