Im looking for a great horseback riding camp in Canada or the US2007-11-24 21:17:36

My daughter has been riding english saddle for 7 years now. She likes jumpers. For the past 4 years she has been going to the same summer camp. I'd like her to try a different camp this summer and am looking for references and info. So please, if you know of a great riding camp (not just a day camp please... it has to be a sleepover camp) in Canada (preferable on the closer to the east coast either New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Quebec or Ontario), or on the eastern coast of the US (Upstate New York, Vermont, Massachussets) tell me about it and if you have links and pictures, that would be even better. I'm kinda fed up with the camp she's been going to. I'd actually like to find one that's clean, is up to her level (her room is plastered with ribbons!) and it's not a problem if the language is french or english as she is bilingual. Thanks in advance for helping me out on this!

Are you familiar with Karen and David O'Connor? Well they are famous eventers that hold a camp for about $2,000 a week. But it is worth it! Go here: to see more info.:http://www.oconnoreventteam.com/...

There is a great one in Granite Falls Washington!!!! it is called "Horse Country Farms" you can look it up online too!
Have you tried Camp Tapawingo in Sweden, Maine? Their website is www.camptapawingo.com, and they are an all-girls' camp that offers horseback riding ( lessons, trail rides, all English or hunt seat style) on their own horses. The town of Sweden/Fryburg is in southwestern Maine, only a short distance from the NH state line. The camp itself is about 200 acres of prime Maine forest and timberlands, with about 20 or so of that under grass ( this is where the main buildings and cabins are) and it has a capacity of about 190 campers. This camp also has an extensive trip staff and they do a lot of trips to different parts of the northeast and even at least one excursion into Canada every summer. ( I worked briefly at this camp when I was in college, which is why I know so much about it- and it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen, at least in terms of the setting.) They have their own private lake with docks and a swim tower, and they offer all kinds of other sports in addition to riding. I am not sure what the tuition for the season at Tap is- I know it isn't cheap- but I also know that the programs they offer are all-inclusive. Go check out the website and give them a call. I think you'll be glad you did. PS: The other place I would suggest to you is the International Riding Camp, which is located up near the Catskill Mountains in NY. They are exclusively a riding camp, though they do have a lake where the campers can waterski and sail, as well as a pool. The girls ( it is also an all girls camp) live in an air-conditioned dorm with private rooms and baths. They have 2 90 minute lesson sessions per day, and they have the chance to travel to and compete in local shows and also to take long rides. The camp has its own horses, or campers can bring theirs for extra fees. Perhaps this might be more interesting to you- the camp's website is www.internationalridingcamp.co...
