but other than that you can't really get a good job anywhere until you're 16.

This is the horse Q and A so I would suggest she look into helping out at a local barn. They are privately owned and often pay under the table. I started to work at one when I was younger than that.
Well if you like horses you can usually work at a horse stable. Its really fun and they pay you. But you have to know how to ride be cause they sometimes need you to ride horses that don't get ridden allot.
Dog grooming business, dog sitting/animal sitting, horse exercising, cleaning out stalls, grooming, braiding
When I was your age I had a job cleaning stalls. Not the best job but you definately pick up on useful information about horses. The trainer even let me ride some top of the line horses every once in a while.
First of all, fast food restaraunts, like McDonalds, do NOT HIRE anyone under the age of 18, for reasons of insurance and liability. Your 14 year old can mow lawns for people in her neighborhood, do chores for the elderly and shut ins ( things like housecleaning and gardening, and watering the plants and the lawn) do babysitting, dog or pet walking and care, get a paper route, or work as part of a hay baling crew. Detasseling corn is another way for rual teens to make a lot of money in the summer time- I have a sister who did this when she was in junior high, and it worked well for her. Yet another way your teen can earn money is to offer to watch people's houses while they are away on vacation this summer. Many people will pay to have someone come in and pick up the mail and newspapers, water the plants, water the lawn and keep it mowed, and either set the timer or turn lights on and off every day. I do NOT recommend that your teen try to get a job at a local stable unless she is already established there in lessons, for the simple reason that barns are like McDonald's- they don't hire minors. Good luck.
lawn mowing, horse stables, snow shovling, babysitting
you can be a stable hand, you can mow lawns, watch pets, anything that you can think of that works to your interests and skills
