Im looking for the history of a brand on my mare GL over 1 over 02007-11-24 21:17:38

I have purchases a chestnut mare with a brand that im trying to trace can any one help me .

If your horse is registered and the brand is on the registration certificate you can trace it through the registry and ownership records. However, if the brand is not listed on the papers, more than likely was branded elsewhere. Most breeders that brand include the brand info with the registration application. Un registered horses, can be tricky now days with the ease of shipment of horses across state lines. If the brand is not listed with your state, well, the search is on.

Could it be GL Bar None? Check your State's brand registry through the Department of Agriculture

If you know the breed of your horse, contact the registry for that breed. They keep this info on hand.

I agree GL bar none is most likely what it stands for. But to find the history you would have to find where/who registered the brand. Check the papers and see if you can find the state she was born in and get a hold of the State brand registry or brand inspector and ask them if they can see if that brand is registered and to who. If it does not match the you will have to do the same thing with each state the mare was in. Either the breeder branded her or another owner did. Always start with the breeder.
