My biggest suggestions would be to relax and breath during your classes. When you can breath, you will calm down and everything will go slower in your mind. It will be easier to concentrate on what you are doing. Stay on point with what you are doing. Remember you basics. Elbows in, heels down, your position, all of that. Concentrate on you and your horse, not the judge or the other contestants. If you are holding your breathe, it will seem like everything is going so fast that you can't keep up, much less stay focused. Try having one of your parents walk you into the alley way and telling you to breath as you enter the arena. I used to work for me like a charm. I could always tell the difference between someone doing that for me and when they didn't Good luck.

My first show was at the same level, and I was really worried about where I stood with the other 20 riders in my class. Unfortunately, I ended up having to go 1st in both of my jumping events so I didn't get the chance to watch the other riders in my level and I was just pushed into the show ring. I couldn't bring my horse all the way to the fence and so I gave her some leg and she took off in the wrong direction :(. But then in my second class I was more preparedand it went a lot better.

It's really great that you are a team with your horse. This means you will be able to excell in both pleasure and equitation classes. If your horse is nice, smooth and collected enter the pleaseure classes. if your horse listens to your aids very easily enter in the equitation classes.
