You have to consider that racehorses are trained to race since young young ages at 2yrs and up. And im not talking ladeda training im talking about rigourous training that pretty much drills it into their heads.

Most likely you will have to retrain the horse how to.

Ride along with another horse without trying to run ahead.

Respond to you cues to go into different gates that ARE NOT a full out gallop.

How to remain calm when in the arena.

and How to be a horse.

So many racehorses are deprived of being horses and doing their natural things. A lot of times they are trained so much and barely get any time outside-- this is called a work release schedual. They are often trained to do so many thins, like not to poop in the arena, not to do this and that-- it's actually kind of sad and generally the bond between horse and jockey isn't that strong. Take it from me. So you'll have to teach your horse to love and live again <3

And be careful of injuries! Many race horses become ex race horses because of unsucessfulness or injuries and even if they dont have any certain injury that caused them to become retired, many exrace horses that survive the brutal slaughter industry will suffer from arthritis and other joint issues later on in life.

Again, don't give up- It will be hard.

I need more information, really, but basically, you need horse sense, safety of you and your horse.
