Im writing a book about zombies, so whats the largest breed of horse
Another three beautiful breeds to consider are the Gypsy Vanner, big, feathery with heavy mane and tail and a pinto color pattern; the Friesian, coal black also with lots of hair, (they are not draft horses, but are big beefy horses, and very flashy!) and Sugarbush drafts, which a basically Percherons colored like Appaloosas.
And that's just what we have in America! There's tons more (pun intended, LOL!) in other countries!
Have Fun!
techniclly their is no biggest BREED , however their is bigger breeds than other, i can not say any one breed but you could narrow it down to a few, like hanoverians , my hanoverian is 18 hands 3 inches, he is the biggest hanoverian ive heard of yet, but you could also say, belgians ,their huge, clydsdales, shires, most of the heavy horses really, thoroughbreds can get really big too, but then again there is lots of big BREEDS
Draft breeds are the largest, the four major breeds being Shire, Percheron, Belgian and Clydesdale.
Not all drafts need shoes, my Perch worked on a plow until he was ten and never wore a shoe in his life. The farrier comes every 6 weeks or so and trims his hooves, it takes less than an hour for all four feet. The farrier used a clipper to do this (Google "farrier tools" in images). He also takes a file to the edges of the hoof to even it.
Hope I helped, if you need me message :)
lol arabians are i think. have fun with your book
Clydesdales' height averages overlap the Shires'. But the Clydesdales' is the winner. their was this one Clydesdale that grew up tp be 21.1 hands high. And a Percheon cannot be 24 hands high, tho it can, possibly, weigh 2400 lbs. tho, it might be a little over weight.
What the hell does horse have to do with you writing a book about zombies?
The largest horse is either the Clydesdale or the Shire. Different people have different opinions but I say the Shire.
When the farrier comes every 6 weeks, they normally just trim the hooves, but some people get their horses shoed. It depends on what the horse is used for and the environment it lives in.
The height of horses varies, but the average is from 15 hh to 16hh; weight is around 1200lbs
