Important event costuming question
Okay, so for my horse and I, I've decided to go with the colors light green and black--My SCA character is going to be Irish :) This is for Rennaisance events, for those that didn't see my former questions. It is not a show, but you do have to dress medieval, both you and your mount.
I was going to get horse barding made for me, but I decided to do it myself instead of ordering it on the net. The biggest problem I have is that I have barely any clue how to start!
It's nearly impossible to find a site that tells me how--most times I search "horse barding" and Google sees "horse boarding" and gives me a list of stables! And yes I'm spelling it right...
I have an idea how I want it to look--either solid green with black trim or striped. I won't use clovers, sorry guys :) It needs to be lightweight but strong material. Any ideas, references, ect. are appreciated.
Also, should I have a chamfron for his face, or just make something for his head out of cloth as well?
Answers:Well I have made 2 costumes they were not medivail but still a horse costume. I love to sew but even if you dont it is not hard. For an easy method I would try this video it is great for a general reference still leaves alot to be desired if you dont have much of an imagination. http://www.almostrancharabians.com/costu...
I've always admired medieval barding for horses. It's very beautiful to me. :)
