Importing a Horse
Importing a Horse2007-11-24 21:17:42
I am interested in importing a horse from the UK to the US. What is the general process of doing this and what would be the price?
Answers:You have to have all the relevant paper work and then they are quarrantined for a month in the UK, more paperwork and then shipped to the airport and crated. We used to fly horses from Argentina and the US to the UK but not the other way around. I also shipped my dog back to the UK and that alone for a Border Collie cost over $6000 and she flew cargo on BA. Horses go charter so it's a lot more expensive. You should contact the the Ministry of Agriculture in the UK first and see what they say as to procedures for exporting livestock to non EU countries

build custom stalls in a plane, and VERY pricy
Very expenisive, you can bet it is easily another 10 grand. You also have to go through customs, and the horse will have to wait atleast four months in quarantine, not very nice for the horse.
