In UK, who is the legal owner of the horse2007-11-24 21:17:45

Is is the person who has the horse and did'nt pay for it or the seller who has all the paperwork and is still waiting for the payment ?

Hi! This is not when possession is the law. If the owner has the paperwork and you did not pay, the horse goes back to the owner. Legally the owner has the paperwork and still owns the horse. He/she can have the magistrate deemed ownership and you could be fined guilty of not honoring a contract of sale if there was one. Settle this now before if becomes more complicated. Money and possession out the window... whoever has the paperwork owns the horse. If you have a horse for 20 years, but the paperwork is in someone else's name... it is their horse. If you pay a million dollars, but the paperwork is in someone else's name... the horse belongs to them.
