Is a dressage bridle ok for jumping competitions
I have a really great dressage bridle and was wondering if I could use it for hunter/jumper competitions. It's ok according to my show association, plus my saddle is black(it's an AP wintec 500) so I don't think it's a big deal. I want to play it safe, though, so what do you think?
Answers:Yes, your dressage bridle will be fine, however you need to check with your association as far as bits are concerned. If your bridle carrys a snaffle bit, kimberwick, ot tom thumb, it should be fine. You will need a regular caveson, not a flash caveson.

yes it is fine, i judge competitions and it is perfectly safe.
Yes, its perfectly fine. In fact, I do it. My saddle is orangeish and my bridle is black [ It doesn't matter in jumper classes]. So in my opinion, you're better off than me because your actually matches! :]
Just make sure before you go to a show that your bridle is OK. You can do that by checking the rulebook. If it is a figure-8 or flash, it won't be allowed in a hunter or EQ class. Just make sure you check the rules.
I've actually found that the horses work better in thier dressage bridle. The bridle you use for dressage is what they use when they are very suppled and collected, and you want them in your jump classes.
Ya, just make sure you have a bit that meets ths competion's standards. I personaally think it would look better for your bridle to match your saddle.
Have Fun!

No it could get you DQed so i'd just use a normal plane hunter bridle.
