Is going from never having ridden at all to jumping 20-28 courses in a year and a half average or sl2007-11-24 21:17:55Answers:

I'm not sure its average but its not slow. My daughter went from not riding to jumping 2 ft in about a year but then I had to take her out of training when I wasn't working. She rides 5 days a week so I'm sure that had a lot to do with it (trained only once per week, but having her own horse - was able to practice daily).

I've seen some riders take years before ability to jump and some that were jumping crossrails after only a month. I think a lot of it has to do with your natural ability and desire. If you work hard for something, pushed or not, and its what you really want to do, you'll advance much faster then the average person.

Not at all, that's pretty good. It can take some people months to just master rising trot. If you've mastered things such as diagonals, leads and other basic fundamentals of ground work etc and are now jumping, you've done very well.
That is very fast! You must get pushed a lot. I started riding when I was seven years old but never go to jump until I was about eleven or twelve years old. I am not an adult and I still only jump about 3-3 1/2 feet! Very good. I would say you must be a very determined rider or you are pushed very hard. Very nice.

Good Luck!

I would consider that fast, and your trainer does not push you??
i guess it's pretty average, i was jumping about that in a month although i already knew how to ride western, and not english.
Thats actually very good.I was riding for about 3 years before I started jumping...
That's pretty fast. I would consider having a horse person or another trainer take a look at you jump. No offense but, are you really ready to jump that high? I mean, for all I know you could be taking lessons every day of the week but it just seems like you're moving really fast. It generally takes six months to a year to start jumping small jumps. But I guess it just depends on how much practice you get and how much natural talent.
that is pretty fast..

I guess sometimes it depends on where you ride!

keep up the good work !!

It's pretty good but I'm going to make a guess that you're on a school horse or one who was already an experienced jumper. Many people learn to jump on their own horses as they train them to jump and that's when things start to take a lot longer. Congrats on getting into horses I hope you really enjoy it and can continue to jump and ride.
sorry, i'd have to say slow. I did it in 3/4 of a year.

It acually depends on the trainer, my trainer is a professional hunter/ jumper so that helps alot.
