Is it normal for a horse to be stressed and neighing when moved to a new home

I've just moved my mare to a new paddock at a friends place, but she has no other horse companions. When we brought her out of the float she seemed really distressed. The old property she was at had 5 other horses on a huge acreage. I'm worried that she'll be lonely, but I can't get another horse as the new paddock isn't overly that big (plus it is at a friend's, I couldn't possibly ask any more from them!) The reason we moved her was because she is quite thin and wasn't getting enough food because the other horses (mainly the percherons) wouldn't allow her to eat as much as she wanted, and also I wasn't able to see her everyday. They were also going to have two new foals and wouldn't have had enough feed for the horses and the cows. Is this ok for her? or have I done the wrong thing? If you have any tips for looking after horses on smaller paddocks and companions, it would be much appreciated. (Also my friend has chickens and a dog. she (my mare) wasn't worried about them)

For the companions, you could buy a goat or something smaller that can live in pasture with her, thius might give her company. Or you could ask your friend to go out and see her every once and a while through the day. And I think you did the right thing, if she was getting thin because she wasn't getting enough to eat and was getting thin, you did the best thing for her! Don't listen to the guy who said top ut her down. I would talk to a vet to see what grain you can feed her to put some more weight back on her. :)
