Okay so I'm getting a horse next summer and I'm realllyy excited but.. I'm also worried.

Is it possible for a horse to be really friendly and love being with people but when you get it.. it doesn't like you? And what if it snips and bites and tries to kick you?

Do horses do this?

Answers:

I've never had a horse that didn't get to like me. If you are nervous they can sense it that makes them nervous. If they nip or bit or even try to go under low branches and knock you off you need to show them who is boss,you are smarter then they are be the boss and they will respect you and love you for it. A little trick if a horse wants to take you under a tree or rear up crack an egg between their ears and let it run over their head. The horse thinks it's bleeding. It doesn't hurt them but horses don't like to bleed any more then we do, and if you are trying to turn them they think you were trying to stop them from getting hurt. Respect is the key. they will look forward to your rides together if they respect you and you them. A last big thing you should be the one to feed them their hay and grain, first thing you do before even taking care of yourself is feed and care for them you put them before your self and they will sense that too. And you feed them at night before you eat that horse will remember you for the rest of it's life. Have fun with your new horse and ride tall in the saddle.

yes they do iv been thrown off horses an every think but don't give up just get right bk on even if u av hurt ur self an talk to the horse cuz it helps u bond with it .

Sometimes a horse may "test" you to see if you'll let it get by with things that it knows it shouldn't do. Just make sure that you let your new horse know right off the bat who is BOSS...YOU!!! Your riding instructor should be able to help you with any other problems that may come up. If the instructor feels that the horse may have a behavioral problem that the two of you can't handle together they may recommend a good trainer to work with your horse and with you about the particular problem.
