my family has a garden and i decided to give my horses some fresh lettuce. they really love it i just wanted to make sure it wasnt bad for them. it is organic so there aren't any chemicals or anything of that kind that would hurt them. thanks.

Answers:

No, lettuce is fine.

Actually it's a natural calmative - but they'd have to eat tons of it for you to notice !

Nope, it's fine.
No, it's perfectly fine..
Lettuce is not poisonous.

These are Posionous

- Wilted red maple leaves

- Black walnut (e.g. as shavings in bedding)

- Oak (especially new-growth leaves in the springtime)

- Taxus species (yew, Japanese yew, American yew, English yew, western yew, oleander and rose laurel

- Rhododendron and azalea

- White snakeroot, richweed, white sanicle, jimmy weed, rayless goldenrod, burrow weed

- Yellow star thistle, St. Barnaby's thistle, Russian napweed

- Blister beetles, which can sometimes be found in alfalfa hay, especially in the Midwest and Southwest)

No lettuce is fine and some horses even love it!
no, but it might not taste that great
No is not!
No. They even like it
Err, think everyone got it wrong because lettuce can be poisonous to both horses and cattle in the form of nitrate poisoning. The lettuces don't even have to have been sprayed, it can be caused by nitrate rich soil and other green leafy plants like spinach and kale are just as bad.

Nitrate poisoning is very rapid in onset and fatal. Personally, I wouldn't even bother risking it.

na. give it to 'em. ain't much that'll hurt 'em. My sister's quarter horse will eat bananas!!!LOL!!
