Is there a fly spray for horses that actually works
I've tried just about every thing. and after I'm done the flies are just worse. Is there a powder that would work, because our horses don't like the kind you spray on they panic and rear or buck. i really need to know because they are just covered with flies.
and also if there is a site that offers free samples would be great! Thanks so much!!
Answers:I've found that Tri-Tech14 works really well. You can buy it in the rub on form so it wont scare them. You can also try using SWAT- a thick pink or clear creme that you can put on their ears and sheath/udder area OR cuts or sores that keeps bugs away and acts as an antibacterial creme :] Fly masks are great too and if the flies are REALLY bad even after spraying you could also consider a fly sheet...? Another thing I've always done is supplement them with some garlic-- when they eat it the scent is released out of their pores (very faint, only detected by bugs) and it really repels mosquitos, ticks, flys and more-- talk to your vet to see how much is OK for your horse to have and try and incorperate it into their daily diet: It's been known to be good for the heart too!
Honestly, all fly sprays no matter what kind only lasts for like 15-20 mins. If they are in the pasture, I would recommend putting fly spray on (using a cloth or towel) then put a fly mak with ears, a fly sheet, and the fly net looking things you put on their legs.
