Is this true
Someone told me like a week ago that when you in show hunter jumper you can't hit your horse with a crop or else you'll be eliminated. I've used a crop when i showed and I've seen other people use their crop too. This person has also made up a bunch of other weird horse theories and such so i was wondering if this is really true or if it's true for maybe higher end shows?
Answers:That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard! YES you can use your crop in jumper and hunter classes. In equitation classes and medal classes though, I recomend short spurs instead of a crop so you can keep your hands perfect. Good luck!
Im not a 100% sure but my friend shows hunter jumper and she has alwas used a crop when she shows.
Never heard you couldn't. Never been reprimanded for it either.
Probably an animal lover who doesn't believe in hitting for any reason. I wouldn't worry about it. We both know we are not hurting them.
Blessings.
It depends.
I've seen someone eliminated from a Hunter ring because she excessively used her crop on her horse's shoulder to reprimand him for stopping at a jump.
It was pointless, it was unnecessary, etc. especially since if you're going to smack them anywhere you should smack them where the motion originates - their rear.
There's a difference between tapping your horse on the butt to encourage him over a jump he's "looky" towards and using your crop to whip your horse into submission.
