M-E-F freewalk / med walk on first level test
How do I ride it? Basically, are we expected to ride directly at E and then do a sharper turn to F? Or do we ride to a bit before E then curve into the direction of F?
If sharp- Move front end or backend over to complete sharp turn?
Thanks in advance!
Answers:When doing this, focus on a spot a little before E. Ride toward that spot so you can bend your horse properly to hit E within it being a shot turn, but a nice curve. It's kind of how you ride circles - at the letter, you only want to hit that letter for a stride before continuing with the nice roundness of the circle. I focus a little before E, then push my horse out and round to hit E so we have a nice curve to continue to F that won't break stride.
That's how I ride it and we get good marks for it. Good luck!
you want to have your horse back on the bit by the time you hit E, that way you can do your turn toward F when you get there.
Just bend your horse, you don't have to do a 90 degree turn, but as long as you get a good bend & change your horses flex, you will do good.
hope this helps, good luck!
You want it to be a nice curve with your horse moving under himself well. Swing his backend out around the turn from E to F. You want ride to E and curve when you hit the rail. If you are not well on your way to F by the time you hit V you made the turn a bit too late. Pretty much you will take a couple bent steps on the rail before heading off to F.
Good luck!
Aim for a bit before E, and make sure that you pick up your reins and get collected again in time to make a smooth turn. The judges prefer to see a sort of rounded turn, as if you were about to do a very small circle, than a sharp or abrupt turn.
Good luck on your test! I ride that test in a few weeks.
