My horse is doing the walk/trot thinggaited
Back legs are moving like a regular trot but both front legs are going at a different pace like a walk...? Is my horse gaited?
Answers:Missouri Fox Trotters do this type of movement. You can Google Missouri Fox Trotters and go the various websites listed. The registry offers an online video as do many breeders websites.
The registry and other members websites will tell you how to get the best out of your Missouri Fox Trotter's gaits.
Rocky Mountain Horses also gait as do Morgans, Saddlebreds, Tennessee Walkers and many other breeds.
I have had Arabs that would gait and single-foot. And I have 2 old line bred Appy's that do what is called the "Indian Shuffle" This is a gait that the Nez Perce bred for in the Appaloosa Horse. Of course this is when they were still considered a breed before the breed (they are now sadly enough a color breed) was turned into QH's with spots.
What your horse sounds like he/she is doing though is the Fox Trot gait...
I have 2 old line bred Appy's that do what is called the "Indian Shuffle" This is a gait that the Nez Perce bred for in the Appaloosa Horse. The gait really isn't a single foot gait either so your Appy may be gaited. If you are really wanting to know video her doing this gait and post it to the web or find someone in your area that knows about the gaits that your horse is doing.or have a vet look at her as suggested maybe they could tell you something.
It sounds more like your horse is lame.
