My reins keep slipping, what can I do about it
I ride in a double bridle. I use leather gloves. My reins just started to slip a lot, and its not because of the gloves.
What can i do to get a better grip.
And i can't change my reins!!
Answers:Have you tried the cotton gloves with pebble grips? I love them and you can get a really good grip with them, for me better then with leather gloves. But since you don't think it's your gloves another thing is could you just be letting your grip loosen on the reins with out thinking about it? You don't want a death grip but you want your fingers closed and grip snug. Or you could try buying a product called Saddle Tite which is a sticky substance meant for leather that will definitely help you keep your grip. It's also great for equitation classes if you need that extra stick to the saddle :)
Buy a tennis raquet grip from your local walmart and cut it to fit the end of your reins. That should work like a charm.
hold the reins tite lol sorry i cant realy help, i use a single rein.
Maybe a little rosin.
Very thin, highly tactile gloves were the answer for me. Close your fingers around the reins for better control.
you can try putting some saddle tite on your gloves or reins just make sure that you clean and condition your tack (gloves included) to stop any oily/slippery build up. hope it helps:)
I used to gallop horses at the track and used leather gloves, most people had too. BUT we had a rein with the rubber grip on most of the bridles. The sweat from the neck may be what is making your hand slip. I like the leather gloves best, but if you can find some with rubber knobs on them that you like, it might help you like someone else said.
Ride with riding gloves

rubber pebal grip gloves works every time their a god send plus if you are using any mane or tail spray ? or conditioner based spray or lotion on the mane it will rub against the reins an make them slippery so dont use it unless your horse is out of work
hope this helps you x
