i hadnt ridden my horse in two weeks
my little sister got on and he ran and bucked her off in the arena
i got on and he tried to buck me off but didnt succeed
three days later i went out there and he tried to buck me off twice again
just as a side note it took me like 2o min to actually catch him becuase he was running away from me
hes a 5 year old quarter horse and he has never shown me this much disrespect!
Answers:It sounds like you need some more ground work. To get respect, this approach has always worked for me:
In the wild, dominant horses drive lesser horses when they show disrespect. They pin their ears, bear their teeth, and chase them. Be the dominant horse.
Let your horse loose in a pen. (A round pen works better, as anything larger makes you yourself work more.) Now begin to drive your horse. Swing a rope, wave your arms, yell, whatever it takes to get him moving around the pen. Make sure you don't get close enough to get kicked should he buck. Be aggressive! Let him know you don't appreciate his disrespect and you are going to make him work (by running) until he learns this fact.
If you horse seems fearful of your aggression, back off on "scary" things (yelling and swinging your arms, etc.), but make sure you keep driving him at a lope. When he breaks gait, drive him back up to a lope. Don't let him slow. This shows him that disrespecting you causes alot of work for him.
