What Is Popping Sound From Horses Front Shoulder/Leg2007-11-24 21:21:37

My daughter's 5 year old mustang was being conditioned for CTR & Endurance when she was apparently kicked in her pasture and came up lame. She had two hot spots. One up by shoulder blade and the other down low on same side near chest.

We gave her one month of rest (in pasture) but the lameness returned with first trot. Gave another month of rest(part in paddlock & part in pasture) and gave MSM. No lameness at walk but a popping sound is heard esp going up or down hill.

Any ideas as to problem? A tendon? Any supplements/medicine to aide in healing?

Rest and workout suggestions?

Your gonna have to see a vet on this. They can do a complete examination to see if there is any damage to the leg from the injury. As far as the sound, its so hard to tell you, it could be a clipping sound from the back hoof striking the front, or something else.

it could be a joint out of form-fixable or if she is older it could be arthiritus or the horse could have a few things

get him checked out by a vet because we (online) cannot diagnose properly without examining the horse thouruoly

i know you are worried but the horse may need a check up

you might have to go to the vets. if the sound is low and it seems that the horse isn't in any pain, it might be fine, but still need to go to the vet. if its a loud pop and the horse seems in pain, i would go to the vet now. the vets is probably gonna give you medicine and tell you that while you horse is taking it to let it rest during the day and maybe 1-3 times outside with you and your daughter leading it so you can see your horses progress.
