What Should I Do
My 2 year old gelding rawhide and I are practicing for shows next year, how should I help practice for Western Pleasure in 4-H! Please Help me! Also you can ride him!
Answers:The number one thing to do is don't practice rail work all the time, especially with a 2 yr old. They need a job! Lay some poles on the ground and ride him over them to make him pick his feet up, set up cones to walk/trot/lope around. Try setting 4 barrels up with a tarp under them (one barrel on each corner) and lead then ride him over it. In trail this would be a water gap--it is good for every horse to know.
Practice transitions on the straight-away in the middle of the pen, so that you don't come back here in the spring and say "I can't get my horse to pick up the correct lead without a corner!"

You should find as trainer in you area to help the two of you. Many trainers also do training rides.
