What are some good careers with horses (i need lots of ideas)
Bloodstock agent - hard to break into, very political
Trainer - need talent
Dentist - 4 week course to qualify
Sports therapy - massage, etc, course all over the country, lot of people doing it though
Breeding manager - need a good grasp of breeding practices and equine repro
Farrier - hard, smelly job, bent over all day but pays good
Barn manager - pay not so good
Instructor - should really have qualifications like BHS exams to be creditable
Jockey - apprenticeships or program like British Racing School
Polo player - need exceptional talent and a patron to make it pro
Pinhooker - buys up foals cheap at TB sales, keeps them a year, preps them and sells them as yearlings for big profit - need money, land and eye for what sells
For money or enjoyment?
train them , wash them, or volunteer at a horse farm
Pro trainer, pro show rider
There is a place in Texas called Windridge. They use horses in therapy sessions with disabled children. If you are interested in that kind of work it would combine horses and kids.
If you have a track nearby, you could try to break in by walking and grooming during racing season.
Some of this begins as a volunteer.
It could give you contacts and may lead to something.
