What are some good eventing horses
I want to know some affordable horse breeds that are good for eventing. Like that it's possible to find them under $3000 (A Holsteiner or an Oldenburg would not be one of them). I am looking for one for my daughter but we are on a limited price range $2500 and under. I've heard x-racehorses are good (yes she can handle them). Thanks!
Answers:Like others have mentioned, Eventing is non-breed specific. If your daughter can handle a ex-racer, and you can find one, go for it.
I've evented my 15.3 hand Morgan gelding sucessfully through Recognized Novice, and have recently been seeing more Morgans and Morgan-crosses at shows. The breed is very versatile and usually affordable. Mine was within your price range when I first started him.
In all truthfullness though, you need to find a horse that works for your daughter and her skills, no matter the breed. I'm a believer in the idea that each rider has that horse out there waiting for them, and once she rides 'the one,' she'll know. So, on that note, I wouldn't discount any breed, you never know what the individual horse will bring.
Hope this helps!
