What are the costs equine vaccinations2007-11-24 21:21:13

I am thinking of buying a horse, and I was looking up how much vaccinations will cost. according to some people I know, you only have to get them twice a year... I was just wondering if anyone knew the cost of one vaccination. Thanks.

My barn manager gives all the shots at our farm except for West Nile and Rabies which a vet must administer in my state, so it saves us a little bit of money. He gives a 5 way twice a year at only $25 each time. My vet charges $28 for West Nile twice a year and $18 for rabies once a year.

so its kind of hard to tell you a specific price

get an idea of the vaccinations that will be needed

and the horse you would buy

then try calling a vet in your area

horses vet bills are almost always expensive i will warn you now

My horses get the following:

Once per year in the Spring: 5-way with Rhino-Flu

Rabies

West Nile

Once in the Fall: West Nile Booster

This costs me approximately $175 to $200 per year, per horse. What shots you need will depend upon what area you are from, what sicknesses are possibly or probable there, etc.

I buy my vaccines at Rural King and give them myself. $18.00 for the cocktail (EEE,VEE,WEE,tetnus,Rhino,flu) and $18 for the West Nile.
