What color and how much
please no mean answers! if u r mean or rude in any way i will report abuse. go to youngrider gallery and look 4 wolf. i need 2 know how much he is worth and his color. i no u may think hes gray but to be gray u need to carry the gray gene. none of his relitives are grey! his dad is a very dark blue roan who has not greyed out and hes 16. his moms a palimino. he is registred as a blue roan in AQHA. he has won many comfermation shows and jumps about 3'6 to now 4'. he is a foundation hancock. i have been offered 50,000 for him. and im not selling him i just want to know.
Answers:You're right...he must have a grey parent to be grey. The grey gene doesn't "hide," it will always express if it is there. That doesn't mean an old horse won't grey-out somewhat, it doesn't mean sabino or roan. But to be a genetically grey, born dark and fade to different levels of white with dapples or flea bitten, they must have a grey parent.
If you really want to know, have him tested at UC Davis, then you'll know for sure.
I think your question triggered an onslaught of "hits" and crashed youngriders server...I can't get it to load, LOL. Can you link to a photo bucket pic or something similar instead?
A horse is monetary worth is based ultimately on one thing: what another person will pay for it. Lots of factors influence that, and few of them can be determined just by looking at a picture and reading that he has had some success in showing and competition. At what level? Fun? Local? 4-H? National? International? He seems priceless to you...so why try to attach a monetary value that is meaningless except for insurance or sale? Why not just enjoy that bond :o) as it doesn't come along every day.
