what color halter should i get for my black horse??

I saw a black horse wearing yellow tack once...He looked soooo sharp!! What an eye catcher--yellow on black. You might think it would look like a bumble bee, but it doesn't. It looks really good.

I put royal blue on my black mare. She looked really good in it!

White also looks really good on black horses. Sharp. :)

Light oil leather looks really good on black horses, too.

Tip: A cheaper way to find out what would look the best on your horse it to get color chips (from Wal-Mart or some other place that carries paint chips) or get Vet wrap. Vet wrap would allow you to be able to see the color better on the horse, but the paint chips are free. But it never hurts to have extra vet wrap on hand!!

While it's nice to have a colored halter that matches blankets, wraps etc, nylon halters can be deadly if the horse gets hung up on anything. Go for leather everytime, looks more expensive and they will break if they get hooked.

Country Supplies (online) have leather halters for $16 and you could even have a brass name plate put on to make it a bit more fancy.

i love black horses - my mare is a dark bay. i buy everything black for her - halters, bridles, reins, saddles. But the padding for my english saddle is white, and the girth is white, and I lined her breastplate with white fake sheepskin (so it doesn't pinch her). I just love the black on black look with just a little bit of white showing. green would look nice, too. or red. come to think of it, black would go with just about any color.
