What color would you call this pony2007-11-24 21:21:24

I used to own this pony and I just have no idea what is color it is.

Some times it looks red roan.

He is white/cream with lots of red gaurd hairs, red legs and ears.

When I washed him he would have black and white spotted skin.

All of his feet were white.

We do not know his cross at all, to small to be POA.

It just bugs me.

Answers:

Red roan is what I would say, unless he darkened alot in the spring, then maybe red dunn. POA is a possibilty, but he was probably a cross. I say that because he is much smaller than a POA, but the spotted skin is a trait they have. Also, his attitude, another POA trait, comes through in the pictures! He is very cute, bet he was fun to work with!

I would definitely say that he is strawberry roan P.O.A mix. I used to ride a blue roan that was a little bigger but looked just the same P.O.A mix. It would be easier to tell without winter hair.

Without seeing a shedded out picture I would say Red Roan.

I am not an expert in color but he looks to me like either a very light strawberry roan or even a possible cremello that is showing a red gene.

Depending on his age he was probably a rose grey or red roan that faded over time. Many grey or roan horses fade out to mostly white eventually.

Strawberry roan for sure. Also a very common color in appaloosas and POA's.
