If it was a hair darker I'd say for SURE it was a 'chocolate' and white pinto. Yes there is such a color and I think they always have a flaxen mane and tail.

Update: Checked the helpful website another poster put on and I was correct but the term "silver dapple" is more likely to be applied to the ponies. Lovely coloration.

Your pony is some type of pinto.

I'm not sure exactly as I am not familiar with the pintos, but yes Shetlands can be pintos as I worked with a breeder that mostly has pinto Shetlands.

That's a silver dapple pinto (piebald if you're in the UK), without a doubt.

She is definitely a pinto... as for calling it a color it probably called a brown and white pinto shetland.

She is a silver dapple taffy, which is a dilution of black, as her base coat. She also is a pinto, which gives the white markings, but you likely already knew that part. Silver dapple taffy is pretty common in Shetlands, but not so much in other breeds, especially in the United States.
