What do you have to do to be a Mounted Police Officer in Australia

I wasnt sure at all what to put this in, so i stuck it in Horses because its a horseish question...ish...

I'd like to know if anyone has info on what stuff you have to study/ what you have to achieve or to before hand to be a Mounted Police Officer IN AUSTRALIA just so you know. And if Girls are accepted would help tons!

In England and over here, you have to join the PD and then following the academy and probation period, you then test and ask for a transfer into a specialized unit. My husband is a cop and his department has a mounted unit. Also had a friend that worked the Metropolitan Manchester Police back home in England and their's was the same kind of process. Oz and England usually do most things along similiar lines. I've seen women work mounted in the US but have never seen them in England. Sorry couldn't be more precise about Australia.
