What else could it be pregnant
my horse is supposed to be pregnant but no one but me thinks she is. i saw her get covered several times by a stud donkey and i thought she was due in june. obviously not. my mom thinks she isn't pregnant but i believe she is because when you pull on her teats clear fluid comes out and the have gotten just a little bit bigger and her belly is starting to round out. you almost can't really tell she is pregnant or not. help me, i can't firgure it out. I don't know if she is pregnant or not what would be your guess? this is her first foal, she is 7 years old, appaloosa. she is 15 and a half hands tall but the jack is 11 hands tall. please give me your guess or your thoughts. please help me.
Answers:If she has fluid coming out she is probably starting to bag up. The first fluids when they get a bag aren't even milk. She could be a couple weeks to a few days away from foaling. Some mares especially maiden mares don't bag til after delivery, and sadly some even a day or two too late. If she caught the breeding on the last cover she may be a little later then you think and some mares can go 12 months for a normal delivery. Also if she has recently had a fuller looking belly the baby may have shifted to it's delivery position which means you could have a foal very soon. You can take her to the vet to have him palpate her, cheaper then an ultrasound. Also if she hasn't been in heat then she's bred and you may be having a baby anytime! A few other things to look for in predicting if she's going to foal soon is a lengthening of the vulva, it'll droop and sorta hang open a bit in anticipation of the birth, the muscles on the top of the croup and tail dock will soften and kind of become concave, she may be off feed or she may not. It depends on your mare. Some mares give lots of signs and some don't give any, so if she still doesn't show signs she may still be close to foaling. Good luck! :)
she is probably pregnant but just to be sure you shouold take her to the vet
my thought is you should get a vet to take a look at her so you will know for sure. geez sum people are dumer then a sack of hammers.and if you cant afford it you have no buisness bringing another horse in this world.!
You need to have a vet check to make sure. Some mares can go almost a year until birth. I always have a sonogram done on my mares and regular vet checks to make sure all is well. Hope you have a foal soon. Best of luck;~)
if you had her covered several times then it could be she just didn't take the first time. you can take her to the vet but this could be expensive. I suggest you get a foal predictor kit. you simply take a sample of milk and test it. to know if she is pregnant or not and when she is due. or you could just let it be a surprise. Good Luck with what ever you decide to do and with the potential new baby
Maybe if you took pics of your horse we could figure out if she was or not. Sounds like it to me she is though
she probably is pregnant. but if you are not 100% sure, CALL YOUR VET!! if she isnt pregnant, and clear fluid is comming out of her teats, something may be wrong. have your vet do an ultra sound or a check up to see if she really is pregnant.
Look at her stomach. If her belly comes down and then straight up towards her flanks , then chances are she is not. But if u look and they kind of slope up wards then she is most likley breed. But i would still get a vet to look at her.
why havent you had the vet out to do pregnant mare examies.. you know she needs shots and checks on her progress
why do people breed horses who have no clue what there doing??/
