What is a good fly repellent2007-11-24 21:19:06

i need good fly repellent that will last more than one day. let me know what kind it is and how long it will last.

Answers:

For body - Farnam's Ultra Shield - it builds up a residue that will last a few days, longer in less humid climates.

For wounds - swat ointment, comes in pink and clear types.

Some folks swear by the spot on types but I have yet to try them. Worth a try cause they have about 60-65% PERMETRIN which is pretty strong and they are reputed to last 2 weeks. Also cheaper in the long run than lots of spray.

I know people with horses and they would spray the horse with skin so soft from avon and it would help keep the flies off the horses at least for a day.

skin so soft works good for gnats around their ears. parana brand fly spray works well also. its oil based so it sticks to the coat and doesn't dry up as fast. garlic in their food helps too. they also make neck straps and leg bands with citronella in them that work well for a good while.

Bronco Fly Spray or Skin So Soft and water mixed.

Piranha fly spray. I swear by it. It's oil based and lasts very well.

Sorry Annie since they started building behind me ..SO PEOPLE CAN 'HAVE HOUSES WITH A VIEW, I don't have as many horses living behind me. If you don't get an answer or the answer you get doesn't seem to work for you...I'll hike the hills & ask a Woman who knowes all about horses, I just have back problems & have been in 'Screaming pain' for 2 wks.'Good Gult trip huh?'...LOL
