What is a good starter saddle

Ive been riding english for about 4 years, and I have just been doing casual riding on my horse. I would like to start showing, just in small local shows, but I have realized that my horse has a very beautiful western jog and lope, rather than the english trot and canter. I am aobut to start lessons one on one with a trainer who helped train my friend horse, and I figured I should try western on my horse. I was wondering what a good starter saddle would be. It cant cost a ton, because I still need to be able to afford farrier and vet bills, along with the dentist who is coming soon, so it needs to be a moderatly low price. So is there a certain saddle you recommend?? I would really prefer a new one, but if there is one that is more expensive but really great I could look for one used. Thanks in advance.

I would deffinitly recomend that if you are on a limited budget that you buy a good quality used saddle. A new saddle that is cheap will be poorly made, and wont last long.

The link you posted has a pretty poor quality saddle. Be very leary of anything new at that price. Hint for saddle shopping: Don't buy anything new that says its a "starter package" this is code for low quality, cheap and will fall apart in a couple years.

You can get a used saddle that is good qualtiy around that price, it will be broken in already, and will last. Look into Circle Y, Big Horn, Billy Cook and Textan saddles. All are mid price, and decent quality. I got my practice saddle for 300 dollars, it is old but soo comfy, in gret shape and fits me and my horse really well. Look into local tack stores that sell saddles on consignment, they will have a good selection of used saddles that you can try and see if they fit you and your horse. You can also look online on sites like ebay, just be VERY careful that the saddle is in good shape, doesn't have a broken tree, and will fit you and your horse.
